Actividades
Responsibilities
1— The General Council is responsible for:
a) Electing its President by absolute majority among the members under paragraph 1(d) of Article 30;
b) Approving its rules of procedure;
c) Approving amendments to the statutes and their appendices, in accordance with Article 106;
d) Organising the election procedure and elect the President of the IPT, in accordance with the law, the statutes and applicable regulations;
e) Examining the acts of the President of IPT and of the Management Board;
f) Proposing any initiatives it deems necessary for the smooth running of the institution;
g) Performing any other duties provided for by law or in the statutes.
2 — It is the responsibility of the General Council, upon proposal by the President of the IPT:
a) To approve the medium-term strategic plans and the action plan for the four-year term of office of the President of the Institute;
b) To approve the Institution’s general guidelines in scientific, educational, financial and asset management matters;
c) To establish, reorganise or abolish organisational units following consultation with the Academic Council;
d) To approve the institution’s annual work plans and review its annual activity report;
e) To approve the draft budget;
f) To approve the consolidated annual accounts, together with the opinion of the statutory auditor;
g) To set the tuition fees payable by students, after consulting the student unions;
h) To propose or authorise, in accordance with the law, the acquisition or disposal of the institution’s real estate assets, as well as credit transactions;
i) To express an opinion on any other matters referred to it by the President of the IPT.
3 — The decisions referred to in subparagraphs a) to d) and f) of paragraph 2 must be preceded by a legal opinion to be prepared and approved by the external members referred to in paragraph 1(d) of Article 30.
4 — Resolutions of the General Council are adopted by a simple majority, except where the law or the statutes require an absolute majority or a higher majority.
5 — In all matters falling within its remit, the General Council may request opinions from other bodies of the institution or its organisational units, in particular from advisory bodies.
