Objectives
At the end of the course unit, the student will be able to:
- work with numbers, solve equations and systems of linear equations;
- master the concept of a real function of a real variable, as well as the concepts related to differential and integral calculus, and their applications;
- solve problems related to deposits, savings, and loans;
- mathematically formulate problems and use the right tools for their analytical and/or computational solution;
- develop mathematical, logical, analytical, and critical reasoning that enables self-directed learning for problem-solving.

I - Mathematical Analysis
1. Basics of algebraic calculus
2. General considerations on real functions of a real variable
3. Differential calculus and its applications
4. Integral calculus and its applications
5. Basics of financial mathematics
Evaluation Methodology
*Continuous assessment: T1 (010 points) + T2 (010 points), both compulsory and closed-book. Students whose combined T1+T2 grade is between 7.5 and 9 points (7.5 ? T1+T2 ? 9) will have the opportunity to take a third test (T3: 03 points). Students who engage in academic misconduct will be excluded from the assessment.
*Assessment by examination: A closed-book written examination, graded on a 20-point scale, covering all course content (passing grade: ?10 points).
In both assessment periods (continuous assessment and examinations), if there are doubts regarding the authenticity, authorship, or substantiation of the answers provided by a student in a written assessment, the lecturer may, before the final grades are officially published, require the student to attend a public oral examination before a panel (with a single scheduled opportunity in each assessment period) in order to verify the method, reasoning, or procedure used in arriving at the answers.
Failure to attend, refusal to cooperate, or inability to adequately justify the solutions presented may result in a revision of the grade (Final Grade = 20% WE + 80% OE) or in the written assessment being declared invalid.

Teaching Method
Lectures are expository and the content is presented with a view to its application. PL classes are aimed at solving exercises using a participatory methodology as well as computational solving.
