This training arises in a context in which companies and industry, regardless of their size, increasingly view the processes of assessing real problems emerging from the areas of management and engineering as critical. This has led to a need for strategies to model and solve these problems using advanced software capable of interpreting information, integrating solid mathematical models that introduce robustness and confidence, which are essential for decision-making.

Objectives

Assess real problems arising in the areas of management and engineering and design strategies for modelling and solving these problems using advanced software, with the ability to interpret information and integrate robust mathematical models that introduce robustness and confidence, essential for decision-making.

  1. Operational Research (OR): basic concepts and their place in the planning process; OR framework in decision-making processes; objective function, decision variables, constraints and technological coefficients;
  2. Introduction to GAMS (General Algebraic Modelling System) software;
  3. Modelling and solving decision problems based on linear models: general linear problems, transport and resource allocation problems; application to minimum cost flow and maximum flow problems.
