Ergonomics has been increasingly reinforcing its importance within organizations, given the growing concern with performance, safety, comfort, and workers’ well-being, as well as the role it plays in reducing workplace accident rates and occupational diseases.
On the one hand, long hours of computer-based work can lead to increased back pain, muscle tension, visual fatigue, and the development of repetitive strain injuries; on the other hand, physical working conditions and various psychosocial factors can also have a very direct impact on employees’ well-being and performance.
Knowing and subsequently applying basic principles of occupational ergonomics will help prevent musculoskeletal injuries, reduce visual discomfort, optimize performance, and improve motivation and job satisfaction.
The course plan provides that, after a brief introduction to Ergonomics, content related to ergonomic analysis factors, workplace postures, musculoskeletal injuries, main physical working conditions, and psychosocial risks will be addressed. There will be a written assessment.
