Objectives
1.Apply, consolidate and further develop the scientific, technical and ethical knowledge acquired in the academic context, through the planning and structuring of the research, grounding its application in the specific area and specialisation of the dissertation.
2.Develop critical thinking and reflective capacity regarding theoretical, ethical and deontological principles, integrating such reflection into data analysis, interpretation, methodological decision?making and applied research practice in conservation and restoration.
3.Deepen and apply scientific, technical and methodological concepts relevant to the object of study of the dissertation, demonstrating analytical rigour, sound justification and critical reflection in the written work.
4.Develop skills in documentation, recording, analysis and scientific communication, in accordance with institutional standards and international best practices in research in conservation and restoration.
5.Develop sociorelational and research management skills, collaborating with the advisor(s) and integrating into the dynamics of scientific work, understanding methodologies, responsibilities and the demands inherent to the research process.

Program
The contents vary according to the object of study and the area of specialisation of the dissertation and are defined in accordance with the Dissertation Plan prepared by the student in articulation with the advisor(s).
The contents are operationalised through the development of research methodologies, techniques and procedures applied to the tasks established in the Dissertation Plan, under the guidance of the advisor(s).

Evaluation Methodology
Assessment is carried out through the dissertation and its public defence before a jury composed of an examiner with competence in the dissertation area/specialisation, one of the advisors, and a chair of the jury, in accordance with the Regulations of Master’s Degree Programmes.
The final classification results from the weighting of the technical?scientific quality of the dissertation, the critical justification, the documentation and analysis of the study, as well as the student’s performance during the public defence.

Teaching Method
Learning is primarily carried out through autonomous work undertaken by the students, under the guidance of the advisor(s), who may organise follow-up meetings and scientific discussion sessions.
