Objectives
With a view to achieving the objectives set, the curricular unit is designed along the Problem/Project-Based Learning (PBL) model.
The practical project work is focused on the students' learning goals, where critical thinking, communicative forms, self-management and collaboration are considered fundamental.

Program
1. Presentation of the subject: theoretical contents and practical contents. Methodologies. Main bibliographic references.
1. Concepts: anthropology, cultural anthropology and anthropology of tourism;
1.1. Brainstorming. Discussion of concepts within cultural anthropology;
2. Anthropological perspectives on the sociocultural dimension of tourism;
2.1. Dialectical relationship: cultural contexts and tourist contexts;
3. Anthropological interpretation from the perspective of the integration of cultural contents in "tourist consumption";
3.1. Motivations, practices and cultural experiences. Presentation of cases;
3.2.The role of emotional reactions/experiences to stimuli (e.g. usual environment and environment of cultural/tourist destinations);
4. Anthropological essay. Comments on case studies. Discussion.
4.1. Public presentation (PBL format/practical application).

Evaluation Methodology
The assessment method will involve
a) a theoretical component: written test (50%);
b) a practical component: practical assignment (50%).
Students must:
1) achieve a mark of 8 or more in the written test; 2) hand in the practical work on the date scheduled by the lecturer, and the mark for the practical assignment must not be less than 8. The oral presentation of the practical assignment is compulsory. If this is not done, the final mark for the practical assignment will be 40 per cent.
The assessment methodology and final grading of the student's assessment is maintained for all assessment periods (written test and practical assignment).
