Objectives
Explore the production of direct positives on Ra4 chromogenic paper using a large-format analog camera;
Understand and independently execute photographic printing processes - Platinum Type and Charcoal;
Distinguish characteristics and potential of executing different printing processes;
Analyze the constituents of supports and reagents in photosensitive solutions;
Understand and interpret variables adjacent to the processes such as: contrast, density, haze, detail reproduction; Raise awareness of the sustainable use of printing techniques, minimizing environmental impact;
Develop, design, and assemble an artistic project in an exhibition space.
Program
Part 1 RA4 Chromogenic Paper
Production of direct positives, structure of chromogenic paper, chromatic filtering, and chemical processing.
Part 2 Platinum Type
Production of digital matrices, preparation of solutions, and control of printing parameters.
Part 3 Charcoal
Preparation of emulsions, production of proofs, and control of the image transfer process.
Part 4 Artistic Project
Development of a project in experimental photography, including conceptual definition, technical experimentation, and final production.
Part 5 Technical Fundamentals
Study of the variables that influence the processes: contrast, density, haze, detail, and material behavior.
Evaluation Methodology
Passing the course is conditional upon attendance at at least 2/3 of the course's contact hours. Failure to meet this requirement will result in failing the course, without prejudice to situations provided for by law.
Assessment by Attendance (continuous assessment):
Practical exercises (3) 60%
Artistic project 40%
To pass the course, the student must:
Submit all assessment elements; Obtain a minimum grade of 8/20 points in each assessment element. Failure to obtain the minimum grade of 8/20 in any of the elements will result in failing the course, and the student will not be eligible for subsequent assessment periods.
Passing is also conditional upon obtaining a minimum final grade of 9.5/20 points, resulting from the weighted average of the assessment elements.
Assessment during entrance exam periods, resit, special, and final year exams)
Students who obtain a final grade of 8 points or higher in the attendance assessment may access subsequent assessment periods for the purpose of passing or improving their grade. In these cases, the assessment is carried out through an individual oral exam, focusing on all the theoretical content taught. The final grade for the subject will be calculated as follows:
50% grade in the attendance assessment
50% grade in the Oral Exam

Teaching Method
Expository, theoretical-practical and practical-laboratory classes. After contextualizing the proposed photographic printing processes, practical experimentation will follow.
