2- Recognise, classify and master the methods of preparation of various special printing techniques.
Program
1 - Classification of the main special printing techniques;
1.1 - Digital workflow;
1.2 - Special printing plates, their characterisation;
2 - Identification of the main characteristics required to produce printed materials using special printing techniques;
2.1 - Special inline printing on offset equipment;
2.2 - Equipment, media and consumables.
3 - Studies of pad printing equipment and printing plates;
3.1 - Identification of pad printing machines with open and closed ink systems;
3.2 - Identification of pressure control devices, parts tray, cliché holder, doctor blades and ink cups;
3.3 - Pad printing plates and screen application;
4 - Preparing consumables for pad printing.
4.1 - Differentiating pad printing clichés;
4.2 - The properties of pad-printing pads and their production (e.g. silicone hardness and shape);
4.3 - Identification of the different types of inks and of resistance and compatibility tests.
Evaluation Methodology
For all exam periods and all student categories, the assessment is calculated based on the following weighting: 60% OFFSET; 40% PAD PRINTING.
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT
The elements described below are considered mandatory, with the following weighting: OFFSET 40% practical work done in class; 30% practical theoretical work; 25% written test with a grade >=10; 5% attendance. PAD PRINTING 50% report with a grade ?10; 45% practical work completed in class; 5% attendance
EXAM-BASED ASSESSMENT
Students who obtain a grade of ?10 in each of the components are exempt. Students who do not attend at least two-thirds of the classes in any component, or who fail to complete all the required continuous assessment elements, will be excluded. Admission is granted to those who have obtained a grade of 10 in the OFFSET written test and/or the PAD PRINTING report. In the exam, students must complete a written OFFSET test and/or a PAD PRINTING report.
The elements described are considered and weighted as follows: OFFSET 45% practical work completed in class during the semester; 30% theoreticalpractical assignment;
25% written test with a grade ?10. PAD PRINTING 50% report with a grade ?10; 50% practical work completed in class during the semester.
