Objectives
Relate the context in which the successive art movements developed in Portugal, during the Modern Age with its peculiar characteristics.
Understand the national peculiarities of each movement, despite their integration into European aesthetic trends, and identify their main artistic manifestations and respective authors.
Develop the ability to make research and understand the scientific information and analyse.
Develop analytical and interpretative skills and critical thinking.

I - The transition of Gothic to Renaissance in Portugal.

2.The Late Gothic during D. Manuel's Kingdom.

II-Renaissance Cycle : innovations and resistance
1.The influence of italian classicism
1.1.The new architecture: sources and ways of its penetration in Portugal.
2 - Painting in the first half of the XVIth century
2.1.Imports. The prevalence of Flemish workshops in the first quarter of the 16th century.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: one written work, about Portuguese Renaissance Art and one written work about Mannerist and Barroc Portuguese Art depending on the approval of a final average of 10 points. However, 7,5 is the minimum mark required in one of the assignments; Who ever has a mark lower than 7,5 in one assignment will be admitted to the exam.
Final Exam: written test about all the subjects included in the program. Approval with a minimum score of 10 values.
