Objectives
The general goal of this Seminar is, in articulation with the research interests of the PhD students, to identify the mainanalytical instruments available in the field of cultural landscapes studies, in terms of their characterisation, theirspatial and temporal contextualisation, as well as the assessment of their symbolic and communicational relevanceand significance.

Program
a) Cultural landscapes: evolution of concepts; material and intangible heritage; evolution of paradigms; culturallandscapes as narrative; new technologies and landscape innovation.
b) Historic spaces: crypto-history; non-existent landscape and heritage; recreation technologies; virtual fantasy andhistorical research.
c) Tourism and heritage: heritage, identity and interculturality; cultural diversity as a tourist resource; local policiesand cultural resources; uses of heritage; cultural programmes and routes.

Evaluation Methodology
The assessment will include a written essay, articulated with Seminar 2 and to be agreed with the student in thecontext of his/her PhD project (50%), its presentation, discussion and oral defence (50%).

Bibliography

Teaching Method
The Seminar will include asynchronous lecture sessions, asynchronous online written debates and oral presentationsof essays followed by debates in synchronous sessions.
