Objectives
A.Identify and describe the fundamentals and general theories of motor learning and control;
B.Know the main terms and instruments used in the study of motor behavior;
C.Contribute to understanding the teaching-learning process of motor skills in the different stages of human life;
D.To be able to recognize the internal mechanisms that regulate human movement and to identify the environmental factors that affect motor learning and performance;
E.To apply the knowledge involved in the process of motor learning and control to sport-specific problems.
Program
1. Movement classification systems;
2. Central and non-central mechanisms of movement regulation; information processing in different types of motor actions;
3. Sensation and Perception, proprioception, exteroception and exteroproprioception in the motor situation; Perception-Action, Body Scale, concept of Affordance;
4. Schema Theory, hypotheses of the variability of practice conditions, contextual interference and specificity, concept of motor program; Law of Practice, phases of learning and epigenesis;
5. Dynamic Systems Theory, concept of self-organization, concept of motor pattern generator; hypothesis of catastrophe, Transition of behaviour and decision making;
6. Speed-precision interaction; reaction time and decision making, attention span, memory systems;
7. Motor coordination, patterns, anchoring, evaluation.
8. Use of technology for sports analysis
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous Assessment:
- Completion of 5 Individual Theoretical-Practical worksheets (50% final grade);
- Individual or group work (50% final grade).
Final Assessment:
- Written exam on the contents of the course;
- Oral Test: Delivery in Word or pdf + Presentation (e.g., PowerPoint) of an analysis project on Motor Control and Learning, with respective defense or, alternatively, it can opt for questions on the application of theoretical-practical content;
-Final grade: arithmetic mean of the written exam and the oral exam.
