Objectives
In the context of the general objective already described, we propose as specific objectives:
- Lead students to understand the importance of visual examination of art objects and the role of photography as a documental record, which prevails beyond this visual examination;
- Give understanding of photography applied to museum and conservation work, and as a documental technique of extension and amplification of visual perception, capable of demonstrating, proving, witnessing and replacing the represented reality;
Program
1. Photography as a complex process, endowed with areas of interest:
- The object;
- The light;
- Image formation;
- Image registration;
2. The factors that determine the final result in the photographic process:
- The point of view;
- The framing;
- The focal length of the lens;
3. The camera and its mechanisms:
- Shutter;
- Diaphragm;
- Displays;
- Sensors;
- Lenses;
4. Effects with shutter and diaphragm:
- Freezing the movement;
- Control of sharpness in depth of field;
5. The photometer and exposure value:
- Existing light;
- Sensor sensitivity;
- Exposure time;
- Lens opening;
6. Lighting Techniques for:
- Three-dimensional expression objects;
- Surfaces;
7. Photography as a form of documentary record:
- Issues, methods and procedures.
8. The Visual Examination of the object and the photographic record:
- Techniques and procedures;
9. Photography applied to museum and conservation work, and as a documentary technique for extending and amplifying visual perception, capable of demonstrating, proving, witnessing and replacing the reality represented:
- Methods;
- Techniques;
- Procedures;
Evaluation Methodology
As the characteristics of this course requires the active participation of the student, it is appropriate that the assessment of learning is carried out on a continuous basis. Thus, for each of the Experimental Projects proposed, and developed throughout the class, an individual technical report will be requested. The final grade will result from the arithmetic average obtained in the set of reports. Examination tests must include a written test, but also require the presentation of individual reports, relating to the monitoring of Experimental Projects developed in practical class. The Exam grade must result from the weighted average obtained between the written test, with a relative weight of 40 points out of 100, and the set of reports presented and developed in practical class, with a relative weight of 60 points out of 100.
