Objectives
In theoretical terms, define and classify the different composite materials, analytically analise the mechanical behaviour of a lamina and laminates and identify the different manufacturing processes for fiber composite materials. In practical terms, manufacture laminates by vacuum moulding, experimentally evaluate the mechanical behaviour of fibre reinforced composite materials to different types of mechanical loads.
Program
1. INTRODUCTION TO COMPOSITE MATERIALS
2. LAW OF MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF A LAMINA
3. MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF A LAMINA
4. MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF A LAMINATE
5. PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS
6. EVALUATE THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS
Evaluation Methodology
The assessment comprises the elaboration of a scientific paper (AC) for a national or international conference, or for a specialized journal, and the preparation of a presentation poster (P). The final grade (NF) will be calculated through NF = 0.6AC + 0.4P. Alternatively, if necessary, a final exam may be considered where NF = E. In case of practical work (T) is developed, this component will be added as following NF = 0.6 + 0.4T.
