Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will:
- be familiar with the TCP/IP protocol stack
- develop networking solutions based on standard TCP/IP stack protocols
- Design small local area networks

Program
1. Introduction to Computer Networks;
2. Physical Layer;
3. Data Link layer;
4. Network layer;
5. Switching;
6. Data security;
7. WAN networks;
8. Network management systems;
9. Advanced Services;
10. Data convergence

Evaluation Methodology
- Theoretical assessment - 50%, with a minimum mark of 8/20.
- Practical assessment - 30%, with a minimum mark of 10/20. Average grade of 3 lab assignments, each with a minimum grade of 8/20.
- Continuous assessment, 20% or equivalent
