Objectives
Strength of Materials II is a follow-up to Strength of Materials I and aims to provide the students with basic skills that will allow them to calculate bending stress and deformation and analyse structural elements under elastic instability.

Program
0 - Some theorical information about bending theory. Exercises on pure bending;
1 - Tangential stresses under simple bending: thin-wall beams, open-section beams and cellular beams; 2 -Deformation of a bar under torsion; 3 - State of stress and deformation; 4 - Analysis of structural elements under combined stress; 5 - Elastic instability in linear and bent elements; 6 - Calculation of deformations

Evaluation Methodology
One final written exam, during the regular assessment period, and pratical exercises across the semester.
