(1) Docente Responsável
(2) Docente que lecciona
Prerequisites
Prior knowledge of chemical kinetics, ideal chemical reactors, thermodynamics and transport phenomena.
Objectives
Students must acquire abilities of design, simulation and optimization of operating conditions of heterogeneous catalytic reactors and of the catalysis analysis. They must also be able to analyse the relations between transport phenomena and chemical reactions.
Program
1- Introduction.
2- Catalysis catalysers; transfer phenomena and chemical reaction in catalysers.
3- Catalytic reactors. Characterization and modelling of packed bed reactors. Fluidised-bed reactors.
4- Multiphase reactors. Applications and operation modes. Mass transfer.
Evaluation Methodology
Written exam 75% and practical coursework 25%
