Objectives
Objectives are:
1 - Describe the general economic environment of health
2 - Describe the healthcare market;
3 - Addressing the issue of technology diffusion and its impact on the production of healthcare;
4 - Analyze the role of the State and the consequences of its intervention in the health sector;
5 - Provide the students with concepts of social justice and reallocation of health resources;
6 - Provide a set of methods used within the health economy.
Skills that pupils should acquire:
Know of a general scope of health economics and healthcare market;
Have knowledge concerning the impact of technology diffusion in the production of healthcare;
Understand the role of government in the health sector and be aware of the implications associated;
Have knowledge of social context;
Possess knowledge related to economic methodologies used in the health sector.

Presentation and analysis of a set of methodological approaches often used in health economics
Evaluation Methodology
Considering the objectives of the course in Health Economics the method of teaching practice is the oral exposition of the syllabus provided (lectures), the presentation and discussion of topics related to them (theoretical-practical classes). Are also provided tutorial orientation sessions and used the IPT e-learning platform as a tool for disseminating information, answering questions, posting handouts, exercise sheets and other materials.
