Lecturer
(1) Docente Responsável
(2) Docente que lecciona
Prerequisites
None
Objectives
It is intended that students should comprehend the basics of the composition and structure of the atmosphere and the climatic system. The student should also acquire skills that will allow a better understanding of the fundamental physical processes in meteorology and climate.
Program
1 - Introduction: the atmosphere and the climatic system
2 Radiation, physical properties of the air and atmosphere statics
3 - Atmospheric Pollution and pollutants dispersion
4 Clouds and precipitation
5 - Wind. Global, regional and local circulation
6 - Climate and climate variability
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: submission and presentation of two written works (40%) and written test (60%).
Assessment by Examination: only for students who had not accomplished the continuous evaluation and/or had had grade inferior to 10.
