Prerequisites

Objectives
This course aims to:
1 - Study the methods of CDSS design and implementation;
2 - Study examples of success and failure developed in recent decades;
3 - Teaching the theoretical and implementation fundamentals necessary to the application of decision support systems and intelligent systems methods in clinical area.
4 - To demonstrate the difficulties and potential of such applications;
The skills to be acquired by students are:
• Know and apply the implementation methodologies of CDSS;
• Have the ability to recognize solutions that enhance the quality improvement of health care;
• Understand and be able to overcome the difficulties inherent in the CDSS implementation;
• Understand and be able to demonstrate and show CDSS potentialities;
• Understand the theoretical and practical methods related to decision support and implementation of intelligent systems in the clinical area.

Evidence about what really CDSS change in medical practice

Evaluation Methodology
Considering the objectives of the course Clinical Decision Support Systems the method of teaching practice is oral exposition of the syllabus provided (lectures), the presentation and discussion of topics related to them (theoretical and practical classes) and still in handling of computer applications for decision support (laboratory classes), using open source software. Are also provided tutorial orientation sessions and use the IPT e-learning platform for disseminating information, answering questions, posting handouts, fact sheets, exercise, etc.
