Objectives
Students should understand the evolution of culture and aesthetics in Portugal, grasp the context in which artistic phenomena emerged and be able to gather, treat and critically analyse scientific information under a historical and artistic perspective.
Program
1. Cultural mindset in modern Portugal.
2. The new artistic context and changes of taste. Classicism and Anti-Classicism. From Renaissance to Mannerism.
3. The cultural paradigms of the Old Regime society.
4. From Proto-Baroque to the splendor of Joanine Baroque.
5. The rococo.
Evaluation Methodology
Preparation, presentation and defence of an original research project work.
Oral assessment of taught topics.
