Objectives
Students should learn how to identify the different defining principles of Semantics and Pragmatics.
Develop critical ability and learn accurate language analysis methods.
Program
1. The concept of Semantics
2. Meaning and Sense.
3. Textual coherence and cohesion.
4. Semantic relationships.
5. The concept of Pragmatics.
6. Interlocutive dimension of language.
Evaluation Methodology
Mid-Term assessment:written test (70%) and 2 assignments (30%).
Final assessment: written exam.
Students will pass if they obtain a minimum grade of 10 out of a 0-20 scale, (resulting from the weighted average of written test and assignments).
