Objectives
Students should demonstrate to know the fundamentals of Portuguese cultural heritage law, be able to solve some real-world cases and be familiar with some comparative law approaches.

Program
1 . Heritage law. Preliminary concepts.
2 . Overall evolution of the concept and standards for heritage from the 19th century to present.
3 . The evolution of the Portuguese legal system
4 . The Public Administration with jurisdiction over cultural heritage
6 . The key lines of the present legal system
7. The patronage system
8. The professional status of the conservators/restorers.

Evaluation Methodology
Written assessment:
a) mid-term test. A mark of 10/20 exempt students from taking final exam
b) final exam with minimum pass mark of 10/20
