Objectives
Students should acquire skills to: identify opportunities for developing new products and new processes; interpret, use and propose patents; participate in the licensing procedures to implement new processes or new industries; propose methodologies that promote innovation.
Program
1. Introduction to the development of new products and new processes; 2. Product development steps; 3. Conception and development of new manufacturing process; 4. Information technology and research networks; 5. Industrial and intellectual property; 6. Implementation of industrial units; 7. Innovation trends.
Evaluation Methodology
Practical component with a weight of 40% in the final grade (teamwork assesment); Theoretical via a written test, with the weight of 60%. Required minimum score of 10 points on each component to obtain approval.

Lectures and discussion of sample cases. Pratical lessons dedicated to brainstorming and new ideas development, and dedicated to the exploration of patents and inovation activities databases.
