Objectives
On completion of this unit students should be able to interpet and design electricity and gas networks for new residential developments, be able to integrate micorgeneration in buildings and have expanded their critical and interdisciplinary skills.
Program
Electricity distribution networks: standards, transformer stations, cables, boards, grounding, protection, design. Telecommunications infrastructure in allotments and housing estates: standards, symbology, installation, materials, design. Microgeneration: sources, technologies, design. Gas facilities: materials, equipment, cutting and setting, implementation, breakdowns, design.
Evaluation Methodology
Practical assignment (50%) and written exam (50%).
