Prerequisites
Objectives
The objectives are:
1 - Transmit key concepts and definitions of telemedicine and e-health;
2 - Transmit the knowledge needed to analyze the cost benefits of telemedicine systems;
3 - Transmit knowledge necessary for analysis and definition of requirements for support of telemedicine and e-health;
4 - To publicize the existing telemedicine systems and their evolution;
5 - To inform and sensitize students to ethical and safety in the use of telecommunications systems in healthcare.
Skills to be acquired:
Know and apply the concepts and definitions of telemedicine systems;
Understand current systems and applications, capabilities, benefits and limitations;
Understand trends in the area and the ability to act on behalf of improving the delivery of healthcare;
Identify and be able to warn of the constraints of e-health practice.

Evaluation Methodology
The evaluation method consists of making a written test, with a weight of 60% of the final classifications, and the presentation of a work, with a weight of 40% of the final classification. To obtain approval for the course the student must achieve a final grade, averaged from the two components of assessment, equal to or greater than 9.5.

Teaching Method
The teaching method to practice is the oral presentation of the syllabus provided (lectures) and the presentation and discussion of topics related to them (theoretical-practical classes). Are also provided tutorial orientation sessions and used the IPT e-learning platform as a tool for disseminating information, answering questions, posting handouts, exercise sheets and other materials.
