Lecturer
- Rosa Brígida Almeida Quadros Fernandes (2)
(1) Docente Responsável
(2) Docente que lecciona
Prerequisites
Algebra, trigonometry, elementary analysis and vector calculus.
Objectives
The students should become familiar with the fundamental law of dynamics (2nd law Newton) and be able to think rationally, applying it to real physical situations, obtaining, analyzing and understanding the various results and their limits of validity.
Program
1 - Units, dimensions, dimensional analysis, trigonometry, elementary algebra and vector (taught simultaneously with other matters).
2 - Relativity of motion, speed, speed, kinetic energy, momentum, acceleration, force, momentum, power and labour. Law of universal attraction. Types of forces. Principle of superposition. Newton's Laws.
3 - Implementation of the 2nd Newton Law
Evaluation Methodology
Eight weekly online tests (in class). Three team assignments. Students also have a weekly homework exercise with feedback from the lecturer on the needs for improvement.
