Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the structure and reactivity of organic compounds.

Objectives
Study of the structure, properties and metabolism of the biological molecules and its functions in living cells. Metabolism of these molecules: carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Nucleic acids and
informational nature of genetic processes.

Program
1 – Biological molecules: structure, properties, isolation and
characterization.
2 – Carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Enzymes and nucleic acids.
3 – Energy, ATP cycle and biosynthesis.
4 – Metabolism of the main biological molecules.
5 – Connections between the main metabolic pathways.

Evaluation Methodology
Laboratorial continuous evaluation.
Written laboratorial test. Final theoretical examination.
