The Instituto Politécnico de Tomar is a relatively young institution. Its history dates back to the begining of 1973 when it was created by ministerial decree but it was only in 1982 that the setting up of the School of Technology was possible. In 1986, the first bachelor degrees were created and classes held in an old building downtown and laboratories located in several venues around the city.
Finally, in 1992 it moved to the new 10-hectare campus. On 1st January 1997, it obtained permanent independent establishment status housing three schools: the School of Technology and the School of Management at Tomar and the School of Technology at Abrantes Campus (in the city of Abrantes).
Today, our academic community comprises about 3500 people: 3000 students, 300 academic/teaching staff and 125 technical and administrative staff.
The Tomar Campus Located in the city of Tomar houses the School of Technology (ESTT); http://www.estt.pt
And the School of Management (ESGT).
