Prerequisites

Objectives
1. Understand the conceptual framework of the show and its cultural, social, and socioeconomic relevance.
2. Identify the different types of shows and recognize their respective organizational and operational specificities.
3. Distinguish the technical, artistic, and coordination functions involved in the production of shows.
4. Analyze the role of the producer and the production support teams, recognizing tasks, skills, and responsibilities.
5. Understand the different phases of show production – pre-production, production, and post-production – and the articulation between them.
6. Apply basic notions of logistics, financial, and human resources management to the context of show production.
7. Recognize elementary communication strategies applied to the promotion of artistic events.
8. Critically interpret case studies of show production, relating them to the content and practices addressed in the course.

1. Definition and classification of the show.
2. Types of shows.
3. Technical, artistic, and organizational functions in shows.
3.1. Technical teams, artistic teams, and support teams.
4. The show producer.
4.1. Concept, tasks, skills, and responsibilities.
5. Phases of artistic show production.
5.1. Pre-production: planning, scheduling, and resource preparation.
5.2. Production: operational coordination, technical monitoring, and execution management.
5.3. Post-production: dismantling, evaluation, reports, and process closure.
5.4. Logistics, financial, and human management applied to production.

6. Communication strategies for artistic events.
7. Case study: Bons Sons Festival.
8. Case study: Tomar Jazz Festival.

Evaluation Methodology
Assessment methodology:
The assessment will be made up of different elements that together contribute to the final grade. The first piece of individual practical work, which accounts for 20 per cent of the assessment, will be accompanied by its presentation, which will also have a weight of 15 per cent. The second practical assignment, also individual, will count for 25 per cent of the final grade, with its presentation worth 15 per cent. Participation and work carried out throughout the semester will be assessed in report format and will make up 25% of the total grade.

- A new practical assignment to be delivered by the day of the test (100%)

The student is approved when he obtains a final classification equal to or greater than 10 (out of 20).

Teaching Method
The classes combine theoretical exposition, guided document analysis, discussion of examples and case studies, articulated with theoretical-practical moments of applying the content to the context of show production.
