Prerequisites

Objectives
1. Understand the fundamental concepts of artistic programming, as well as its social, economic, cultural, and territorial relevance.
2. Identify the main types of events, artists, and manifestations of the performing arts, distinguishing their characteristics and contexts of application.
3. Analyze the role of the cultural and artistic programmer, recognizing functions, responsibilities, decision criteria, and articulation with the mission of cultural organizations.
4. Interpret the historical evolution of the performing arts and relate it to contemporary programming practices.
5. Critically evaluate artistic programs developed in different territorial and institutional contexts.

6. Develop basic proposals for artistic programming, articulating objectives, target audiences, resources, territorial context, and curatorial coherence.

Program
1. Fundamental concepts of events and artistic programming.
1.1. Definitions, classification, and typologies of events.
1.2. Structuring characteristics of cultural and artistic events.
1.3. Artistic programming: notion, purposes, and institutional framework.

2. Artists, languages, and performing arts.
2.1. Typologies of artists and performative manifestations.
2.2. Performance, interpretation, and artistic creation in the context of performing arts.
2.3. Relationships between creation, mediation, and programming.

3. The cultural and artistic programmer.
3.1. Functions, skills, and responsibilities.
3.2. Artistic project, institutional mission, and programming criteria.
3.3. Audiences, mediation, and adaptation of programmatic proposals to contexts of enjoyment.

4. Artistic programming in different territories and facilities.
4.1. Analysis of programming in auditoriums, theaters, cultural centers, and arts centers.
4.2. Analysis of programming in multi-purpose venues, outdoor spaces, and festivals.
4.3. Relationship between programming, territory, cultural identity, and local development.
5. History of the performing arts.
5.1. Main periods, currents, and historical references.
5.2. Contemporary transformations of the performing arts and implications for artistic programming.

Evaluation Methodology
The assessment will consist of different elements that, together, contribute to the final grade. The first practical assignment will be done in groups, representing 20% of the evaluation, and will be accompanied by a presentation, which will account for 15%. The second practical assignment, of an individual nature, will contribute 25% to the final grade, with its presentation worth 15%. Participation and the work developed throughout the semester will be evaluated in the form of a report, making up 25% of the total grade.

The student is approved when he obtains a final classification equal to or greater than 10 (out of 20).

Teaching Method
The classes combine expository moments of theoretical-conceptual framing with theoretical-practical activities focused on the analysis of case studies, guided reading of documents, critical discussion of programming examples, and application exercise
