Objectives
The objectives of this course are:
- Understand the importance of the standards and regulations applicable to electrical installations, the operation of electricity grids, and access to networks and interconnections;
- Understand and apply graphical representations of electrical safety (IE);
- Understand the operating principle of LV/MV protection and safety devices and know how to calculate current intensities in symmetrical faults;
- Size and select electrical piping and LV protection devices for overload and short-circuit situations and select electrical panels;
- Understand the operating principle and application of artificial lighting system devices and equipment and know how to size and design lighting installations;
- Understand the structure and operation of transformer stations and electrical substations and know how to size busbars and select associated equipment;
- Understand the operating conditions of electricity grids, as well as the requirements

Program
1- Current Standards and Regulations (RTIEBT, ROR, RARI)
2- Concepts of Electrical Installations (EI) (Constitution and characterization of EI, service means: equipment, switchgear, and feeders, methodologies for calculating and selecting service means, service and protective earthing, etc.)
3- Symbology and electrical diagrams (single-line, multi-line, functional, architectural, etc.)
4- Grounding (TT, TN, and IT connection diagrams, grounding and equipotential bonding systems, fundamentals of calculating/measuring grounding resistance)
5- LV and MV protection devices (Fuses, circuit breakers, residual current devices, disconnectors, etc.)
6- Calculation of symmetrical short-circuit currents (CEI 909) and voltage drops (exact and simplified)
7- Sizing of electrical feeders (Technical section method and economic method)
8- Artificial lighting (internal and external, lamps, luminaires and fixings, maintenance factors and reflection indices, luminous uniformity, calculation using the utilization factor method)
9- Transformation stations and power substations (construction, equipment characteristics, and sizing of busbars and support insulators)

Evaluation Methodology
The assessment for this course is 40% for a practical assignment (drawing, calculations, and equipment selection) and 60% for the written exam.
The minimum passing grade for this course is 47.5% (9.5 points).
