Objectives
The objective is for the students to obtain knowledge in the areas of materials science and technology, in order to understand the correlation between the properties, structure, manufacture and behaviour of materials with the various industrial material applications.

1. Introduction to Material Science and Engineering.
2. Classification and Selection of Materials for Engineering Applications.
3. Crystal Structure and Properties of Materials, Polymorphism.
4. Solidification and Defects in Materials.
5. Solid Solutions and Metallic Alloys.
6. Degradation of Materials.
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous Assessment:
Two tests.
