Objectives
Impart knowledge about different photographic media through practical and experimental understanding gained from using glass negatives, slides, black and white film, color film, in different formats: 35mm, 6”x6”, 6”x9.5”, 6”x12”.
Understanding and analysis of different digital capture systems: scanner, light box, 35mm negative/slide duplicator.
Criteria for digitizing transparencies in terms of histograms, metadata insertion, and digital post-production.
Awareness of the practice of digitizing analog media in the preservation of collective memory.

Program
Understanding how different capture devices and their respective software work.
• Scanning methods for black and white negatives, color negatives, and color slides.
• Including metadata in scanned images using Bridge software and image editing in CC.
• Understanding the interaction between camera, flash, and computer.
• Adjustment of different film supports for handling in the box in terms of focus/positioning.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment is carried out through the completion and submission of a
set of practical assessment modules proposed by the teacher. The final assessment is carried out taking into account the following weighting: Module 1 (80%); Attendance (20%). Students with a grade of 10 or higher are exempt from the exam period. During exam periods, the exercise will be submitted with the same weighting if the student has obtained a grade of 7 or higher during the attendance period.

Teaching Method
Theoretical-practical classes demonstrating the different methodologies with the equipment used; Laboratory practice classes that assess the fundamental objectives of the UC, including editing and post-production of digitized images.

Adobe Bridge, Adobe DNG, Camera Raw, Adobe Photoshop CC, Canon EOS Utility.
