Objectives
Develop a better understanding of photometry and the notion of framing when photographing.
Understand the concepts of density, contrast and colour and their impact on the final aesthetics of a photographic work.
Acquire working methodologies for selecting images in the creation of a visual narrative.
Structure photographic image archiving methods.
Program
The digital image:
Bitmap image characteristics: size, colour depth, file formats, resolution and colour profiles;
Main hardware and software components required for image editing.
Image selection and archiving methodologies:
Image selection techniques for building visual narratives;
File naming and archiving systems;
Metadata;
Working methodologies using Adobe® Bridge®.
RAW file processing:
The importance of Adobe® DNG®;
Concepts of density, contrast and colour;
Adjustment tools available in Adobe® CameraRaw®.
Advanced image capture techniques:
Digital noise control;
HDR exposures in high-contrast situations.
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment is carried out through the individual presentation of 3 theoretical-practical exercises.
The final grade will be considered:
Exercise 1 (40%)
Exercise 2 (30%)
Exercise 3 (20%)
Participation in classes (10%).
Failure to submit the exercises mentioned above excludes the student from the exam.
The student is exempt from the exam with a grade equal to or greater than 10.
The student will only be admitted to the exam with a minimum average of 7 in the continuous assessment.
The exam will include a theoretical component (50%) and a practical component (50%), through a written exam and the execution of a practical exercise.
