Objectives
The course aims to guide students in acquiring basic knowledge and skills in the areas of fire safety and technical installations in buildings, as well as basic maintenance procedures. The learning outcomes will enable
students to interpret and critically analyze technical installation projects, including:

A| Understanding and interpreting the physical properties and fire behavior of materials and construction systems.
B| Identifying the main materials and devices used in technical installations.
C| Understanding the main maintenance
processes and procedures for these installations.
D| Knowing and researching applicable standards and regulations.
E| Raising awareness of indoor air quality and comfort requirements.
F| Analyzing the
efficiency of building equipment and energy systems.
G| Acquiring basic knowledge to understand the design of technical installation projects.
H| Developing self-learning and
collaborative work skills.

Program
Part I
1. Fire Safety in Buildings: Fire phenomena; Changes in material properties with temperature: Fire reaction of construction materials; Fire resistance of building elements; Fire protection.
2. Water-based fire fighting systems: Power sources; Installation characteristics and materials; Utilization devices.
3. Maintenanc
e and preventive conservation procedures.
4. Legal framework and applicable regulations.

Part II
1. Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): Comfort and indoor air quality requirements.
2. Existing buildings and new buildings. E
quipment and energy systems efficiency requirements.
3. Analysis and design of building HVAC systems: Existing and new buildings - typical installations; technical solutions; project design.
4. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC): Installation and acceptance tests for HVAC systems - installing company; materials and equipment; piping installations; duct installations; preliminary tests for acceptance tests; acceptance tests. HVAC duct sizing - constant pressure drop and static regain methods.


Part III
1. Basics of electrical installations in buildings: Composition; Technical characteristics; Service means; Design and sizing principles; Applicable regulations – RTIEBT.
2. Basics of
telecommunications infrastructures in buildings: Composition; Technical characteristics; Service means; Design and sizing principles; Applicable regulations – ITED.
3. General aspects of
maintenance of electrical and telecommunications installations in buildings.

Evaluation Methodology
The assessment includes two practical assignments (PA1 and PA2) and a written exam (WE). The final grade, FG, is calculated as the weighted average of PA1 (33.3%), PA2 (33.3%), and WE (33.3%): FG = 1/3 x PA1 + 1/3 x PA2 + 1/3 x WE. The minimum grade for each assessment component (PA1, PA2, and WE) is 8 out of 20. A student passes if FG is equal to or greater than 10 out of 20.
