The Master's in Computer Engineering - Internet of Things (MEI-IdC) continues from the 1st cycle of studies in Computer Engineering and related courses, allowing for the continuation of studies in this area and contributing to the professional enhancement and enrichment of the students. This program offers specialized and postgraduate training in areas of Computer Engineering that support Internet of Things applications, namely: Big Data, Machine Learning, Mobile Application Development, Security, and Cloud Computing.

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the interconnection of everyday devices and objects to the Internet, allowing them to autonomously collect, exchange, process, and analyze data. IoT aims to improve efficiency, accuracy, and convenience in various areas, such as urban management, healthcare, agriculture, and industry.

Objectives

The Master's in Computer Engineering - Internet of Things (MEI-IdC) aims to provide advanced and specialized professional training in the following areas of Computer Engineering:

Programming Science and Technologies
Intelligent Systems and Multimedia Interaction
Software Engineering and Information Systems

The Master's in Computer Engineering offers a new training approach that will enable its students to obtain solid and practical training in the areas that support the development of IoT services and applications. This training profile facilitates participation in projects that integrate these technologies into companies and research projects.

The actual development and provision of these technologies by the students are supported by partnerships with several leading national companies in these areas and participation in research projects associated with prominent Research Centers, such as the Research Center for Smart Cities (Ci2).

Professional Goals

Holders of the master's degree in Computer Engineering will be prepared to integrate public entities, national and international reference companies that need specialized technicians in the areas of software engineering, intelligent systems and programming sciences with the following professional profile (among others):

- development of IoT applications and services;

- development of machine learning algorithms;

- processing and computing large volumes of data;

- analysis and development of solutions for sensor networks;

- specification of requirements and software development;

- development of advanced mobile applications.
