Objectives
Students should be aware of the existence of several legal instruments that regulate tourism and cultural heritage in order to preserve its identity and authenticity. Students should also be aware and understand the legal topics that regulate heritage management.
Program
1. Concept of Law. Tourism Law. Heritage Law.
2. The process of drafting legislation and its typology.
3. The strategy defined for the tourism sector.
4. The legal framework for tourist resorts.
5. The local accommodation regime.
6. The legal framework for tourist entertainment agents and travel and tourism agencies.
7. Cultural heritage law.
Evaluation Methodology
Assessment will be based on two written tests and an assignment to be presented in class.
Each written test will have a weighting of 40 per cent in the final grade, and none of the assessment components can have a mark lower than 8.
The assignment will focus on a topic to be taught and will have a weighting of 20 per cent.
Students who obtain a mark of 10 or more in all three assessment periods are exempt from the exam.
Failure to complete one of the continuous assessment periods will result in an exam.
The exam will be a written test covering all the topics taught.
