Objectives
1.Understanding the concepts of Iconography and Iconology
2.Sensitize the student to the different levels of interpretation and understanding
3.Provide students with knowledge and theoretical and practical tools essential to the decoding of images

Program
1. Iconography, Iconology and Symbology: the value of images
2. Christian Iconography: sources of Judeo-Christian iconography
3. Mythological iconography: main sources and persistence in Western culture
4. Profane iconography. A possible systematization

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: two written assignments on the themes in the syllabus. Minimum pass mark: 10/10 (20) or 8/12 (20)

Final Exam: a written assignement on all of the themes in the syllabus Minimum pass mark: 10/20
