Objectives
It is intended that students:
(a) Understand the definition of information system, as well as identify information systems for human resource management and their applicational modules;
(b) Analyse and understand the importance of Employee Relationship Management (ERM) for human resource management;
(c) Describe the different models in the scope of planning and implementing an information system, and identify the challenges inherent to them
(d) Be able to plan, create and use databases in operational systems (OLTP systems) and analytical systems (OLAP systems);
(e) Understand the importance of Business Intelligence (BI) and identify the phases of implementing a BI process in the area of human resources, from information modelling to the production of reports and other analysis processes;
(f) Know the theories of technological acceptance and be able to apply technological acceptance models to information systems;
(g) Know how to use tools to support organisational communication and collaborative environments, with emphasis on online tools;
(h) Know how to use training and lifelong learning tools and methods.

1. Systems and Information Technologies and Human - Resource Management (HRM);
- Information systems (IS) in organizations;
- IS management and planning;
- Typical application modules of HRM;
- Employee Relationship Management (ERM);

2. Planning and implementation of an information system (IS)
- Development models;
- Challenges in the implementation of an information system.

3. Databases
- Database Management System (DBMS);
- Operating systems and analytical systems;
- Data Warehouse systems (DW);
- Features and architecture of a DW;
- The relational model to the dimensional model;
- Implementation models of DW.

4. Systems Business Intelligence (BI) for human resources
- BI Architecture for Human resources;
- Analysis of BI data model for human resources.

5. Acceptance and Use of Information Systems
- Theories of technological acceptance;
- Models of technological acceptance.

6. Systems to support organizational communication
and collaborative environment
- Tools and systems for online communication and collaboration;
- Gamification systems.

7. Lifelong Learning and Training
- The online training and career development;
- IS and tools for e­Learning;
Creating courses for e­Learning.

Evaluation Methodology
The acquired knowledge will be assessed through an individual research work (45%) and exercises requested in class (55%). The assessment by exam will be made through a written test with consultation (100%).

Teaching Method
Teaching/learning methods involve theoretical presentations, problem-solving, demonstrations, discussions and tutorial guidance. The knowledge and skills acquired will be assessed through an individual research project.
