Prerequisites
Not applicable.
Objectives
Understand the constitution and operation of EPS. Be able to design, calculate and deal with high-voltage lines, substations and transformer stations. Become familiar with the different technologies used in supply grids, as well as distributed generation and micro-generation.
Program
1. Electric Power Systems (EPS)
- Characterization and operation of an EPS
2. Flow loads
- Per unit system method
3. Overhead and underground electrical power transmission
4. Distribution system
- Power flow, reactive power and protection in distribution networks
5. Basis of distributed generation, micro-generation and technical conditions for interconnection to the grid
Evaluation Methodology
Two theoretical-practical assignments and respective presentation and discussion:
- Research work on distributed energy resources (25%);
-Research Work on EPS simulation and analysis (25%);
- Presentation and discussion of assignments (10%).
-written test (40%)
