a) Identify and conceptually understand the main theories of cinema.
b) Establish critically and reflexively the relationship between theory and practice of cinema.
c) Understand the evolution of aesthetic and technological paradigms.
d) Relate to cinema theory and the fifth Sustainable Development Objective (ODS): Gender Equality.

2. French school: Jean Epstein
3. First theoretical approaches: Bela Balázs and Rudolf Arnheim. 4. Soviet theorists: Lev Kulechov, Vsevolod Pudovkin, Serguei Eisenstein and Dziga Vertov.
5. Phenomenology of Realism: Andre Bazin and Sigfried Kracauer
6. The politics of authoship: Le Cahiers du Cinéma.
7. Modern cinema: Gilles Deleuze.
8. Other Cinemas (10 ODS): Frantz Fanon, Glauber Rocha and Fernando Solanas.
9. Theory and gender equality (5 ODS): Laura Mulvey
10. Digital cinema and convergence culture: Lev Manovich, Tom Gunning and Henry Jenkins.
Evaluation Methodology
1. Continuous assessment:
1.1. Written evaluation test (60%)
1.2. Written review (40%)
2. Exam First attempt and Resit:
Written test covering all taught content (100%)
The evaluation is made in accordance with the provisions of Article 11 of the Academic Regulations of IPT schools. Students who obtain the note equal to or greater than 10 values.
