Objectives
Acquire and master knowledge on packaging design and technology.
To be able to solve problems of design and production of packaging and promotional objects.
Design and carry out packaging prototypes.
Master the ArtiosCad and Studio Visualizer software.

Program
1. Design
1.1 Packaging definitions, packaging types and packaging functions.
1.2 Market aspects. The Packing as semiotic object. Brand, product and consumer.
1.3 Methodology for packaging design.
1.4 Graphic design on the packaging: image (photography and illustration), color, typography, composition.
1.5 Symbology and Barcode.
1.6 Labels.
1.7 Sustainability and legislation.
2. Technology
2.1 ArtiosCad Software, Studio Visualizer and Illustrator
2.2 Standard packages, flexible and semi-rigid packaging.
2.3 3D Promotional objects.
2.4 Printing methods applied to packaging.
2.5 Terminology.
2.6 Materials: paper and cardboard packaging.
2.7 Manufacture of paper bags.
2.8 Production processes. Equipment / production systems.
2.9 Technical trials: paper and cardboard packaging.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment
Covers: theoretical content 30% of the final grade and practical projects 70% of the final grade.
Theoretical content: 30% of final grade (Written test: 20%; Field trip report: 10%)

Teaching Method
Presentation of theoretical contents and analysis of the different packaging. Field trip. Execution of packaging design projects from the briefing phase to the final prototype using different materials.
