Objectives
On completion of this course students should demonstrate to be able to solve lighting-related problems and select lighting sources as applied to light design.
Program
1- Concepts photometry : energy and power; luminous flux; luminous efficiency; luminous intensity and illuminance.
2- Electromagnetic spectrum; monochromatic and polychromatic light sources. Black body and color temperature.
3- Reflection ( RE ) and refraction ( RA ) of light: practical applications of RE and RA laws. Fermat principle. Transmission and absorption of light. Important properties of transparent media ( refractive index , absorption coefficient ). Lenses.
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous evaluation:
Minimum 2/3 of attendance at the planned TP classes.
10% Individual work linked to design with light in the classroom (personal choice or linked to the course).
10% participation in class, exposing doubts, sharing opinions and experiences.
80% Two online multiple choice tests throughout the semester.
Other evaluation periods:
100% online multiple choice test including all the material taught throughout the semester.
