Objectives
Synthesis of basic concepts required to interpret and act on architectural heritage. Research, survey and assessment of historic buildings. Monuments, artworks, memory and their cultural, institutional and legal context.

01- FUNDAMENTALS OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE
02- TERRITORY, CITY AND ARCHITECTURE
General concepts of heritage - memory, identity, legacy. Value theory.
Scheme - an outline of heritage types - concept of material and immaterial heritage.
03-EVOLUTION OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE CONCEPTS
TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE ANALYSIS, STUDY AND INTERVENTION ON EXISTING BUILT STRUCTURES.
Heritage chronology. Concept of cultural heritage. Example: the city of TOMAR
04-BUILT HERITAGE. Erudite, Vernacular and Industrial Heritage.
CONSERVATION CRITERIA AND METHODS
05-SAVEGUARD AND ENHANCEMENT OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE
Types of intervention in built heritage. Intervention models. Examples:

Evaluation Methodology
CCompulsory theoretical-practical classes.
Assessment System: Continuous assessment (AV):
Students are assessed during lectures (T) and Theoretical-practical classes (T/P) qualitatively and quantitatively.
Assessment is based on the following criteria:
Class attendance, minimum attendance of 2/3 of scheduled classes, according to IPT Regulations.
Tr - Coursework undertaken during classes and field trips. Final grade is the average of all coursework items (Tr)- Grade is on a 0-20 scale.
Theoretical test (T) and all coursework undertaken. (Tr). Grade is on a 0-20 scale.
Exam (Ex) will no be allowed to students who did not achieve the minimum average of 9.5 in all coursework (Tr) items.
Exam (Ex) will no be allowed to students if the work carried out (Tr) is delivered the defined deadlines
Continuous assessment grade (AV) is the weighted average (T) (30%) + Tr (70%) as follows:
AV = 0,3 T + 0,7 Tr. A grade higher than 9.5 exempts students from exam.
Theoretical component (T) can be carried out during the tuition period or the exam period.
Exam (Ex): Students qualified to take the exam will receive a final grade (CF) calculated as follows:
CF=0,3 EX + 0.7 Tr
Coursework must be undertaken and submitted in the relevant academic year.
