Objectives
On completion of the course the students should have acquired general knowledge of world prehistoric art, rock art and mobile art, all cultural eras and horizons as well as world sites.
Program
Introduction to prehistoric art. Characterisation of prehistoric art: rock art, moveable art, megalitic art. Statues, stellae, sculptures and other forms of prehistoric art.The discoveries and the first studies, theories and researchers. Geographic distribution. The rock art in the five continents. The concept of zone, area, set and complex. Dating methods.
Evaluation Methodology
Essay: written component (50%), oral component (50%)
