Design of shallow foundations as a function of soil type and depth; settlements and their consequences. Basics of deep foundations. Soil containment processes. Pre-dimensioning and stability check of rigid and flexible retaining walls.

Written tests (intermediate test or final exam)
Pass requirement: a minimum mark of 3.0 in the theoretical part of the written test is required.
