Objectives
Get familiar with the different types and technologies of intelligent sensors and actuators available in the market as well as its modes of operation and uses; Be able to select, apply and maintain intelligent sensors and actuators and to incorporate sensors into distributed systems.

Program
General characteristics of sensors: potentiometric, extensometric, photoresistive, thermoresistive, magnetoresistive, capacitive, inductive (LVDT and RVDT), hall-effect sensors; thermocouples and pyrometers; auto-resonant sensors; CCD and ultrasonic
sensors; linear and angular encoders; optical fibre and optical sensors; microsensors and multisensors; micro and
nanoelectronics.

Evaluation Methodology
Practical coursework during the semester.
