Lecturer
(1) Docente Responsável
(2) Docente que lecciona
Prerequisites
Algebra, analysis, elementary trigonometry and vector integral and differential calculus.
Objectives
It is intended that students become familiar with the fundamental laws of classical dynamics and they become able to think rationally , applying it to concrete physical situations , obtaining , analyzing and understanding the various results and their limits of validity .
Program
1.Units and dimensions of the main kinematic and dynamic quantities.
2.Scalar and vector physical entities: mass instant, time interval, position, displacement, instantaneous and average velocity, speed, average and instantaneous accelerations, angular and linear moments, resulting force, torque, kinetic energy, orbital and internal kinetics, potential, internal and proper potential.
3.Particle and rigid body kinematics: translational motion on the trajectory, circular and generalized motion; rotational movement around a symmetry axis.
4.Particle and rigid body dynamics: fundamental laws of translation and rotation.
5.Forces: weight, normal reaction, tension, thrust, electrostatic force, magnetic force, elastic force and friction force between solid and in a fluid.
6.Conservation laws of linear momentum, angular momentum and proper energy.
Evaluation Methodology
Resolution of individual sheets of exercises and problems. Written test which evaluate the knowledge and skills acquired by the student.

Teaching Method
Lectures and exhibition practices of the concepts, laws and theorems. In both classes are proposed and solved exercises and problems of application of the concepts, laws and theorems.
