Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will:
- be familiar with the TCP/IP protocol stack
- develop networking solutions based on standard TCP/IP stack protocols
- Design small local area networks
Program
1. Introduction to Computer Networks;
2. The OSI model and the TCP/IP protocol stack
3. The application layer
4. The transport model
5. The network layer
6. The data link and physical layer
7. LAN architectures.
Evaluation Methodology
- Theoretical assessment - 60%, with a minimum mark of 8/20.
- Practical assessment - 40%, with a minimum mark of 10/20. Average grade of lab assignments, each with a minimum grade of 8/20.
- Continuous assessment, 20% or equivalent
