Objectives
The students will get acquainted with environmental impact issues and will familiarise themselves with the specific solutions using cutting-edge technologies. Self-study and assisted study skills will be stimulated and enhanced.
Program
Definition of environmental impact; the stages of EIA; Legislative aspects concerning the EIA; EIA practice in Portugal; Environmental indicators used in EIA; Key environmental impacts associated with different projects; Analysis of completed reports; Environmental assessment and strategy planning; geographic Information Systems in the EIA process; Thematic mapping.
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: 2 mini-tests and 1 assignment with presentation.
A minimum mark of 50% in these two components exempt the students from final examination.
